DC Asian Man Black Woman Anniversary Bash Event

Friday, October 30, 2009

Come join us in the one year anniversary of DCAMBW. This site has done wonder for many of us. Why not show your appreciation by celebrating with us on its one year anniversary on November 14th. See more details and RSVP on DC Asian Men & Black Women

I know its a short notice and many of you are coming from different place, but V and I can assure you that you will be among family members and that we will try to accommodate you as best as we can.

For instance, if anyone needs a ride from the airport to the event or to their hotel room we can handle that. But, please let me or V know ahead of time what your needs are so we can accommodate it.

BWI (Baltimore Washington International) Airport is the closest to us.

Helping other Moms of Blasians

Thursday, October 1, 2009

A while ago I received this email asking me to share their story within the blasian community. As you know I’ve been very bad about posting into on this blog about happening within the community. But this story has inspired me…if we don’t bring awareness for our issues to help ourselves who will do it for us?

Jo wrote: Hi there. My blasian daughter Diana is seriously ill with HLH, Hemophagocyticlymphohistiocytosis (HLH), an autoimmune disorder that acts like cancer. I have a blog at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/diananyc

I'm reaching out to the blasian community to seek registrants to the bone marrow database and/or umbilical cord bank. You can check it out at http://marrow.org/

Adults between the ages of 18-60 can request the cheek swab kit online and/or sign up at blood banks that have the capability to enroll bone marrow registrants. All data is anonymous, so although you may not match Diana, you might be a match for someone in a similarly dire situation.
