Come join us for fun activities for the Chinese Ceramics exhibit at the Pacific Asia Museum on Sunday, July 10, 2011, from 1pm-4pm

Price will be $4 for our friends and family. Please let us know so we can give you the discount coupon! This event is put on by the Student/Museum Exchange Program at the PAM, which was a student-led forum during this summer.
Activities:
Tea Tasting with Diana Wong
Tea is an important aspect of Chinese culture, and the ceramics reflect this. Be welcomed into the beautiful courtyard, sit down and be served tea in a traditional Chinese ceremony. Learn about the different types of tea, taste each one, and understand the different types of cups/bowls used.
Pottery Making with Juan Cruz
Where you will learn the meaning of symbols and animals, and find out which person the five-clawed dragon was reserved for! Get crafty! Make your own tea cup with clay, and put your own symbols/decorations on your new craft!
Scavenger Hunt with Jose Carlo Elamparo
Take part in the scavenger hunt and seek out answers to discreet but interesting facts about the exhibit's items. Win prizes.
Modern Ceramics with Grace Wong
Discussions on how humans relate to objects and the influence of trade leading up to our modern ceramics. Compare modern pieces with the artifacts in the gallery which hail from the Ming Dynasties and beyond. Includes discussion of contemporary artists--
Art Culture Ceramics with Katie Goudey
Ceramics as art, ceramics as poetry, including discussion of contemporary artists such as Ai Wei Wei, Grayson Perry, Charles Krafft, and Claes Oldenburg. A chance to make YOUR OWN art and poetry as inspired by your appreciation of the exhibit. Perfect for poets and artists that like to interact and respond to art. Recite your haikus, poems, songs, etc to the other museum-goers!
Includes admission to the rest of the galleries in the museum. Regular admission is $7 for students, but we get a discount for those coming for our event!
